I'm checking to see if it's just me and my little mule rice popper bike or this happens to everyone with motorcycles. I hit a ton of Street lights, pull up, stop and wait... Sensor never registers my bike is there. I end up waiting a couple cycles then run the light.

If I were to get a ticket for this, it would totally be bogus :furious: Anyone have this issue?

Very common issue on small bikes. My XR has the same issue, the strom much less. A trick is to put your kick stand down to trip the sensor. Also you can make note of the light that dont work and call DOT to fix them. And I have never gotten a ticket for running a light after letting it go for 2 cycles. But there has never been a cop to witness it either.

A lot of people say those pieces of metal work. Basically its a metal block you mount on the bottom of the bike that supposedly help change the lights. Honestly I've had good luck doing what Izzy said by putting my kickstand down on the asphalt. I don't have the problem so much on my 800 but I did a lot on my KLR.

When I lived in Clairemont Mesa, I used to have to run the one on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. and Clairemont Mesa Drive anytime I was there by myself. That was on the Nighthawk 750 which is a pretty heavy bike. I have had to do it a couple times on the VFR as well.

For sure. It sucks though, because you're really in a Catch-22. Unless you are in the far right lane and can turn right and do a U-turn somewhere, you're going to end up breaking the law. Many times it's happened to me where I'm in a left turning lane. If I go to the center and turn right I end up breaking the law. I always hate doing it but sometimes there is no option.

Kickstand is a good idea. Always thought the sensors were based on pressure, but its more a metal detector? I wonder if I went to court, having a motorcycle and telling the truth, would that be a defense for running a red light? Hmmmm. Maybe filing a formal complaint about lights would get that on file for future issues. I have this light right by my house, it will not work for me. I pulled up when a cop was there and waited till he was gone, wasn't taking any chances. He might try to give a ticket for loitering

Call the light in to the city, they will fix it.
